Pacific Match
Privacy policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
1. Who we are
Pacific Match is a free neighborhood-matching app and website from Pacific Relocation, a business name of Your Main Guy Consulting Ltd., 1108 Pendrell Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6E 0C7, Canada.
This policy covers the Pacific Match app for iPhone and Android and the website app.pacificrelocation.com. Our main website, pacificrelocation.com, has its own privacy policy.
Our privacy contact is Julien Mainguy, Director, at privacy@pacificrelocation.com.
2. Which law applies
We are a private-sector organization in British Columbia. The BC Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) governs how we handle your personal information, and the federal PIPEDA applies when it crosses provincial or national borders. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, we also follow it.
3. What we collect
You can use Pacific Match without an account. Here is what we receive, depending on what you use.
- Your quiz answers. When you finish the quiz, we receive your answers (destination, household and pets, budget, commute, schools and lifestyle) with a random ID that the app or website creates. That ID isn't your name, your email or your device's advertising ID. In the app you can turn this off on the Account tab (“Share my quiz answers with an advisor”); your answers then stay on your phone.
- Your LGBTQ+ community choice stays on your device. We never receive it and never save it to your account.
- A commute address, if you enter one. It is turned into map coordinates and sent to Google to calculate travel times. The result is kept in a cache for up to 24 hours and isn't linked to you.
- An account, if you create one: your email address and how you signed in (Apple, Google or an email code). With Apple or Google, we may also receive your name. Signed in, we keep your saved neighborhoods, your search and your move checklist.
- An optional profile: first name, current city and country, household answers, move date and a profile photo you choose.
- A consultation request: your name and email, plus the city, move date, household and notes you add, your language and the random ID.
- Usage statistics and error reports: on the website, page views and a few actions (such as finishing the quiz) through PostHog, and error reports through Sentry; these include your browser type and IP address. In the app, the screens you open and a few actions (such as finishing a quiz step or asking for a consultation) through PostHog with a random ID, and crash reports through Sentry with your phone model and system version. They never include your name, email or quiz answers. You can turn the app's usage statistics off on the Account tab (“Share anonymous usage statistics”).
We don't collect your precise location, your contacts or your advertising ID. We don't track you across other apps or websites, and there are no ads in Pacific Match.
4. Why we use it
- To rank neighborhoods for you and show commute times.
- To run your account: sign-in, saved items, profile and checklist.
- To give a consultant context about your move, and to reply to a consultation request.
- To understand how the website is used and fix errors.
- To meet legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
Under BC PIPA we rely on your consent. Using a feature that needs information, such as sending a consultation request, implies consent to us using it for that feature.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. These providers process it on our behalf:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, sign-in emails and profile photos | United States |
| Cloudflare | Hosting the website and the app’s server | Global network |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple; maps in the iPhone app | United States |
| Sign in with Google; commute times; maps in the Android app and address search on the website | United States | |
| Mapbox | Maps on the website | United States |
| PostHog | Usage statistics for the website and app | European Union |
| Sentry | Error and crash reports for the website and app | European Union |
Some features use services that receive no personal information from us, only a city or a place: rental listings (RentCast), place photos and Street View images (Google) and walk scores (Walk Score).
Relocation services. If you go on to hire Pacific Relocation, our main privacy policy applies to that work.
Legal. We may disclose information where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
6. Cookies and storage on your device
- Website: your browser stores your sign-in session, language, saved items and quiz answers. PostHog sets a cookie and local storage to count visits.
- App: your phone stores your sign-in session, your preferences, your quiz answers (including the LGBTQ+ choice), a copy of the neighborhood data so the app works offline, and the random ID PostHog uses for usage statistics.
You can clear the website's storage in your browser settings. Deleting the app removes what it stored on your phone.
7. Where your information goes
Our database is in the United States (Oregon), and most of our providers store data there. This means US courts, law enforcement and regulatory authorities may be able to access your personal information under US law. If you have questions about this, contact Julien Mainguy, Director, at privacy@pacificrelocation.com.
8. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, photo, saved items and checklist | Until you delete your account |
| Quiz answers sent with a random ID | 24 months |
| Consultation requests | As long as needed to reply and follow up, at most 24 months, unless you become a client |
| Website analytics and error reports | As set by each provider |
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app (Account tab, then Delete account) or by email. This deletes your account, profile, photo, saved neighborhoods, move plan and the consultation requests sent from your account's email address. How to delete your account.
10. Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to our database is restricted, and each account can only read its own data. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach could reasonably be expected to cause you significant harm, we will tell you and the relevant authorities without undue delay.
11. Your rights
Under BC PIPA you can:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything inaccurate;
- withdraw your consent, subject to legal or contractual limits.
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you also have rights to erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@pacificrelocation.com. We reply within 30 days, as PIPA requires. If you aren't satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
12. Children
Pacific Match is made for adults planning a move. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. We will show material changes on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
