Pacific Relocation's take

Vancouver's most understated prestige neighborhood.

Kerrisdale doesn't market itself — and that's the appeal. The village strip on West 41st has a butcher, a bookshop, three banks, and a movie theatre that still feels like 1985. The housing stock is overwhelmingly older detached homes, often owned by long-term residents who occasionally rent. Strong public elementary, two of the city's top private girls' schools within minutes, and quick drive to Oakridge for shopping. We recommend Kerrisdale for families who want low-drama family life and don't need nightlife inside their postal code.

Our advice

Before you sign a lease

  • Many homes are owner-rented during sabbatical or international postings — lease terms can be unusually short (6–12 months)
  • Stratas in the few condo buildings often have strict no-rental clauses; verify before applying
  • Older heritage homes may not be fully insulated — winter hydro bills can be 2× expectations
  • Furnished rentals are common but quality varies wildly; request a video walkthrough before any deposit
