Pacific Relocation's take

The neighborhood our clients picture when they picture Portland.

Nob Hill delivers the postcard version of close-in Portland — leafy Alphabet District blocks, Victorians over coffee shops, and Forest Park trails a fifteen-minute walk from your door. We place a lot of physicians here: Legacy Good Samaritan sits inside the neighborhood, which turns a commute into a stroll. The housing stock splits in two — charming but creaky pre-war walk-ups in the core, and full-amenity new builds in Slabtown to the north; clients who need in-unit laundry and parking should start in Slabtown. Couples and solo relocators thrive here; families usually stay a year, then move for schools. Street parking is permit-zoned and genuinely tight, so we treat a deeded spot as a deal-maker. Summer is peak competition for the character units — view mid-week, decide same day.

Our advice

Before you sign a lease

  • Many brick walk-ups carry Portland's unreinforced-masonry placard — ask about seismic retrofit status before signing
  • Zone A permit parking: confirm the unit qualifies for a permit and what guest parking actually looks like
  • Pre-war buildings often heat with electric baseboard or old radiators — request a winter utility history
