Multnomah Village is a genuine village — an arch over the main street, a bookstore everyone knows, and neighbors who wave — folded into the wooded hills of Southwest Portland. We place OHSU and downtown professionals with young kids here constantly: Marquam Hill is 10–15 minutes up Terwilliger, the SW elementary schools rate well, and the price per bedroom beats every close-in eastside option. Rentals split between hillside house leases and surprisingly affordable garden-apartment complexes toward Barbur, which is where our value-focused clients land. The honest trade-off is infrastructure: once you leave the village core, sidewalks disappear and bus service is sparse, so most households here run a car per adult. Walk your specific block after dark before signing — SW Portland's charm and its sidewalk gaps live on the same streets. Inventory is steady year-round with little of the eastside's summer frenzy.

Our advice
Before you sign a lease
- Sidewalk coverage is patchy outside the core — walk the actual route to school and the bus stop before committing
- Hillside houses can sit on shared 'party' sewer lines and tricky stormwater drainage — ask who pays when they fail
- Units near Barbur Blvd and I-5 carry steady road noise; test windows-closed and windows-open
