Pacific Relocation's take

Lake Oswego's family workhorse — its own schools, its own village, more house per dollar.

Lake Grove is the west side's self-contained village, and it's where we land most relocating families who put schools and square footage first. The draw is concrete: Lake Grove Elementary is one of Oregon's top-ranked, the Boones Ferry village center handles daily errands, and the swim park gives kids a summer base on the lake. Housing skews to mid-century ranches and a healthy supply of garden apartments and townhomes, so it offers the most realistic rental inventory and the most yard per dollar in Lake Oswego. The trade-offs are a more suburban, drive-everywhere rhythm and Boones Ferry traffic at peak hours. We tell clients to confirm the exact attendance boundary before signing — Lake Grove versus Westridge or Oak Creek can hinge on a single street, and the swim-park eligibility line is tied to the historic district boundary, not the city limits.

Our advice

Before you sign a lease

  • School attendance and Lake Grove Swim Park eligibility are drawn by historic boundary lines, not by 'Lake Grove' in the address — verify the exact assigned schools in writing
  • Boones Ferry Road frontage units get real traffic and noise; ask to view at evening rush before committing
  • Some garden-apartment leases stack pet rent, parking, and amenity fees on top of base rent — get the all-in monthly figure before signing
