Pacific Relocation's take

Our easy-landing pick for first-year transplants.

Tanasbourne is where we place clients who want maximum convenience and a soft landing while they figure the metro out — it is wall-to-wall apartments wrapped around the Streets of Tanasbourne, with groceries, restaurants, an H Mart, a cinema and a gastropub all within a few minutes. The housing is overwhelmingly large garden-style and mid-rise rental complexes rather than houses, which makes it fast and flexible to lease into, and the dining mix is genuinely diverse. The catch is character and transit: this is a retail node, not an old town, the MAX is a drive or bus ride away rather than at your door, and you will use the car for almost everything. Schools straddle the Hillsboro and Beaverton district lines and run from solid to strong depending on the exact address, so we always check the assigned chain street by street. Rents have softened more here than in Orenco, so it is a good value play right now, especially on the larger two-bedrooms. We like it for first-year Intel and Nike transplants, dog owners and anyone who values errands-on-autopilot over a walkable downtown.

Our advice

Before you sign a lease

  • Tanasbourne spans the Hillsboro / Beaverton school-district line — confirm the assigned schools for the exact building, in writing, since the reputation varies by block
  • Many complexes back onto Evergreen Parkway or 185th; tour the specific unit for traffic noise rather than relying on the model home
  • Pet-friendly here usually means two-pet caps, monthly pet rent and weight limits — get the full pet policy and any breed list before signing
