Pacific Relocation's take

Walk-to-downtown houses for our diverse, budget-minded families.

Vose sits directly south of downtown Beaverton and is our pick for families who want an actual house with a yard but still want to walk or bike to the city core, the farmers market and the MAX. It is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city, and that shows up best at the table — the Beaverton-Hillsdale and Canyon Road corridors nearby are a genuine draw for Korean, Mexican and Vietnamese food. The honest trade-off is schools: Vose Elementary rates below the district average, so education-first families either pay for private access or look at the south side and West Slope instead. The upside is value and pet-friendliness — older single-family rentals here are some of the easier places near downtown to land with a large dog. Rents have eased over the past year, so there is room to negotiate on the bigger houses. We like it for first-time relocators, multigenerational households and anyone who prioritizes location and community over test scores.

Our advice

Before you sign a lease

  • Vose Elementary rates below the district average — if schools matter, confirm options (transfer, magnet or private) before committing to a long lease
  • The housing skews older single-family; ask about heating type, insulation and any oil-tank history before signing a winter lease
  • Some blocks near Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy carry arterial traffic noise — tour the specific street at rush hour, not just midday
